Curved neoprene

October 4th/2016 — Design, Editorial

As I’m sitting in front of my PC, thinking about what to write after an almost month-long absence, I notice that much, but at the same time nothing, has happened in September.

Summer holidays eventually drew to a close, yours truly was tortured up several mountains during a class trip to Italy* and school, thus the daily grind, has started again. That’s the outline, though there wouldn’t be significantly more to tell, if I decided to go into detail. That isn’t nothing, some might say now. It’s trivial, I’d say. I’ve hardly ever felt as unproductive as I did this summer, which is, perhaps, because I’ve simply been hella procrastinative. Instead of realizing all the ideas and plans I had, I… I can’t even tell what I spent 6 weeks of vacation with, definitely not sewing otherwise this (bomber) jacket wouldn’t be the only proof of me not being temporarily dead or something. Ah, there’s my cue. The jacket. Let’s say it’s been on my mind for a while now and I finally got around to see my first neoprene piece not only from the insides of my beloved brain, but also in its materialised form. My inspiration for the curved sleeves was Chanel SS17 – look it up and you’ll know why – and I was surprised how well the shape turned out, since I made the pattern myself. Stitched onto the front in order to add a subtle pop of colour, there are red patches I cut out from a beautifully embroidered fabric I bought in Taipei/Taiwan. Initially, I wanted to embroider the back as well, but I figured it would have been overkill. That’s a wrap so far! I won’t promise that I’m going to be super active in the next time, school isn’t as easy as it was anymore, but if you don’t mind I’ll try to consistently post shorter articles, including only 2 or 3 pictures.

  • Love the empowered pose, young lady! Of course, the embroidered bomber too. I like how you wore that skinny watch over the turtleneck. Gosh, how elegant! Never ever stop creating, even if you got nothing (hehe!) ;) xx
