The Cloud

On workshops, watercolour and “the cloud”.

As you may have heard last week, I attended a fashion workshop at the summer holidays’ beginning. Now there might pop up a picture of a “we sew a bag”-kinda course, but I can gladly tell you it wasn’t. The workshop was hosted by a near Fashion Design School and took one week, from Saturday to Saturday. Besides learning how to give our sketches and illustrations more “drama”, draping dresses, cutting cuts and sewing shirts, we also had a lot of fun after class, f.e. while going to the cinema or visiting an art museum.

One of the exercises was painting a fabric and draping it into any garment we wanted, so a girl I made friends with there and I tried to make our fabric look like it was splashed with watercolour, what we’ve managed more or less… Nevertheless the colour combination is one of my favourites now.

When it came to sewing I was thrilled to have the chance to sew with one of those amazing industrial sewing machines. Although sewing with them goes pretty well, I was probably the last one to leave the room, since I had to sew all the ruffles onto my otherwise “minimalistic” top. I call it “the cloud”, because it’s so fluffy and bright.
